It has nothing to do with "love" being particularly feminine. It has everything to do with generic concepts usually getting a '-t' ending regardless of their actual association. This occurs in other languages as well.

Hello everyone Very Happy

I think 'mrwt' is translate as 'love' which it's a noun, right?

if you want the verb of 'love' you should cut 'w & t' out from 'mrwt', it's become 'mri', the 'love' in verb. Smile

yeah you're right, it's just mri for the verb, but the i is weak so it is often left out;
for example mr=f means he loves / he will love
(hoe, mouth, horned viper)

sorry that was wrong, that one above means mr k you love / you will love in the MASCULINE, the femenine would look like so;

OR

mr t you love / you will love (femenine)

It looked just like the arrangement in the pic in the reply from Daughter_of_Seti above (11 back - Posted: Thu Oct 09, 2008 7:28 pm ) except with the 'chick' missing.

BTW - what is the best procedure for putting images of hieroglyphs in my replies. Do I have to host the pictures online somewhere or is there an easier way?

Thanks

oh darn of course sorry, the form mrwt, which daughter of seti posted is the noun love, if you saw it without the chick then it could have still been the noun with the w missing as often happens.

I used something called http://www.aegyptisch.de/glyphomat.pl
and then hosted it online yeah[/i]
